AI makes options cheap. Taste decides which one ships. I use AI inside a real design process, not instead of one. AI speeds up prototyping and production. The research, the judgment, and the "does this actually work for the user and the business" call stay human.
Designing with AI · 0:09
Created by Carolina Cravens with AI tools.
AI and design tools I use every day: Claude, Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, Higgsfield AI, DALL·E, ChatGPT, Adobe Creative Cloud, HTML, CSS and WebGL.
Why this page exists
AI is changing how design work gets done, but it isn't replacing the people who decide what good looks like. When first drafts become cheap, the value moves to judgment, taste, and knowing which option actually works for the brand and the user. Designers aren't being replaced. The ones who won't adapt are.
My approach isn't "prompt engineer." It's designer first, with AI fluency built in. I use Claude, Firefly, Midjourney, Higgsfield AI, and DALL·E every day at Legacy Housing and across freelance work to move through prototyping, iteration, and production faster, while every design decision stays with me.
AI can produce options. It can't read a room, challenge a bad brief, or own the outcome when brand, product, and legal all want something different. That's the job, and that's what doesn't automate.
Up to 60% faster prototyping and production, every output reviewed and refined by hand.
User needs, brand fit, and final judgment calls are never delegated to a model.
Structured prompt systems for consistent, on-brand output, run after run.
Proven inside a Nasdaq-listed company's brand, legal review, and web work.
Process
AI sits in the middle of my process, never at the start or the end. The brief and the final call are always human.
Understand the business, the audience, and what success looks like before anything gets made.
Dozens of directions explored fast, then narrowed down with design judgment.
On-brand imagery, variations, and layouts produced quickly, then refined by hand.
Every detail checked against the brand, the brief, and legal before it ships.
In practice
Four places where AI saves real time for the companies I work with, without lowering the bar.
Landing pages, forms, and user flows prototyped for desktop and mobile in a fraction of the usual time, then refined by hand with clear developer notes.
Dozens of on-brand visual directions in the time it used to take to rough out three, so stakeholders see real options instead of mood boards.
Fast, consistent variations across formats, markets, and channels, including AI video, without a reshoot for every size.
Reusable prompt frameworks built around a brand's visual language, so AI output stays on-brand instead of generic.
See it in action
Landing pages, websites, product catalogs, and campaigns built with an AI-accelerated workflow, all reviewed and finished by hand.
